Loop Your Skin & Complexion Radiance With These Summer Fruits

I firmly believe in the mantra—“Eat To Keep Yourself Healthy Because Your Health Is Reflected Through Your Skin”. A healthy diet rich in fruits can boost your overall health and promote glowing, healthy skin. Dedicate this summer of 2014 to indulge in an assortment of exotic and nutritious fruits to give your skin a mega watt boost.

Skin Benefits Of Dragon Fruit

Dragon Fruit: If you are looking for a fruit that will delay aging, prevent high blood pressure, and improve your figure, look no further as this pitaya fruit will assist you with living a happier and healthier life. Packed with fiber and incredibly low in calories, dragon fruit will help you to feel full after eating and stop food cravings. It also improves the metabolism rate, assisting you with weight management. To keep your skin young and vibrant this fruit comes loaded with Vitamin C, B1, B2, B3, calcium, phosphorous, iron, proteins, and niacin.

Skin Benefits Of Pineapple

Pineapple: This tropical fruit is rich in vitamin A, B, C and bromelain making it a perfect natural remedy to keep acne prone skin clear and radiant. Bromelain is an enzyme that softens skin and has been used for hundreds of years in South and Central America to fight inflammation and swelling. Eating pineapple or drinking it’s juice helps the body synthesize collagen, which helps skin to stay firm and flexible, while vitamin C and amino acids aid in cell and tissue repair.

Skin Benefits Of Kiwi Fruit

Kiwi Fruit: Also known as Chinese Gooseberry is not only a delicious and nutrient-rich fruit but also a great natural ingredient for your skin care. It contains several skin friendly nutrients like vitamin C & E, Alpha hydroxy acids, iron, copper, omega-3 and antioxidants. These are essential for boosting and rejuvenating your skin’s health. Kiwi is loaded with dietary fiber and antioxidants, making it an excellent laxative. Regular consumption of the kiwi fruit juice aids the body in eliminating toxins and wastes, and thus resulting in healthy and glowing skin. Kiwi is low in calories and is therefore a great food for people on a slim down diet or weight watch. It also contains soluble fiber, which promotes fullness and reduces hunger pangs.

Skin Benefits Of Straberries

Strawberries: These berries are super fruits, bursting with powerful anti-oxidants and loads of vitamin C that can provide your skin with nourishing nutrients for healthy happy skin. Research shows that people who eat foods rich in vitamin C have fewer wrinkles and age related skin problems than those who don’t. Strawberries are an excellent source of dietary fiber that helps eliminate harmful toxins in our bodies. Rich in Folic Acid these luscious berries aid in cell regeneration and production of new cells in our bodies. Strawberries contain the anti-oxidant ellagic acid, which prevents collagen destruction (one of the major causes of wrinkle formation). Ellagic acid has a photo-protective effect that works against UV damage by stifling the production of MMP (enzymes that contribute in destruction of collagen). This prevents wrinkles from forming on the skin, thereby providing a healthy supple look to your skin.

Skin Benefits Of Papaya
Add caption

Papaya: This “Fruit of the Angels” is loved by all and is quite famous for its luscious taste and rich texture as well as health benefits. Papaya is abundant in anti-oxidants and has a huge concentration of Vitamin A. Papaya can work wonders on tired, “old” looking skin. It’s high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C and also contains Vitamin E, so it has a significant antioxidant value.  Applying papaya to your skin has an amazing tightening, as well as brightening, effect. It’s abundant in natural alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), which is an ingredient in those expensive anti-aging skin formulas.  It acts as a gentle exfoliator as well as a skin brightener.  Whenever you exfoliate the dark, dead skin cells, the skin will appear lighter, brighter, clearer and more youthful looking.

Take a health vow this summer my beauties and aside from staying away from cigarettes and using sunscreen when you go out, the next best thing you can do for your skin's health is to eat a diet rich in antioxidants. These are nutrients that work to defend your body's cells including skin cells against the damage of oxidative stress.

Munch Your Way To A Natural Tan

Healthy Tan, Food That helps tanned skin
For those of you who prefer a little color in your complexion, but don’t want to scorch your skin under the sun or bake in a tanning bed; heeding to the fair warnings of your dermatologist linking skin cancer with UV radiation —there is hope. Yes, there are other ways to attain a healthy skin color —in fact you can eat yourself to a healthy tan. There are studies that have proven that eating lots of fruits and vegetables that are yellow or orange in color can impart you with a natural tan. Let’s explore this new concept of eating your way to a bronzed goddess or god.

Foods That Can Put Some Color In Your Skin: Carrots, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, pumpkin and cantaloupe are loaded with a very potent antioxidant called carotene. When you eat multiple servings of these fresh produce, it warms up your natural skin tone. Dark, leafy greens like spinach and kale also contain large quantities of beta-carotene and are also responsible for affecting skin pigmentation. Consuming large portions of these vegetables and fruits on regular basis can impart your skin with a natural and healthy tan.

A study conducted in 2011at the University of Nottingham UK, reported the effects of consuming large amounts of fruits and vegetables rich in beta-carotenes on the skin color. The results indicated that group of students consuming several extra portions of fruits and vegetables on daily bases for several months showed increased skin pigmentation due to naturally occurring chemicals called carotenes.

A study conducted in 2011at the University of Nottingham UK

The face in the middle shows the woman's natural color. The face on the left shows the effect of sun tanning, while the face on the right shows the effect of eating more carotenoids. The study participants thought the carotenoid imparted color looked healthier than a sun tan. (Credit: Ian Stephen, University of Nottingham)

So How Much Of These "Tanning" Foods Do You Have To Eat To Obtain A Bronzed Glow?
Unfortunately no one knows how long or how much of these tanning foods must be consumed to see results. The study at the University of Nottingham involved college students who were asked to consume extra quantities of fruits and vegetables over several months but a specific time frame or quantity was not specified. The biggest misconception about eating your way to a natural tan is that one's ability to tan with certain foods is variable and influenced by one's underlying skin type which is determined by skin pigmentation and genetics.

A Word Of Warning: Eating over excessive amounts of foods rich in beta-carotene can also have negative effects, namely a skin disorder called carotenemia. Carotenemia is characterized by a yellow discoloration of the skin involving the skin of the body including the palms and soles of the feet. It may be mistaken for jaundice, a serious medical condition involving the liver. However, carotenemia is a benign skin condition that is completely reversible once you stop consuming large quantities of vegetables rich in beta-carotene.

Your Natural Tan & Glow Food List:
  • ·      Carrots —When carrots are consumed regularly (and in moderation), the skin adapts a more natural and healthy-looking tone.
  • ·      Tomatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, cantaloupe and apricots —These carotenoid rich fruits and veggies also improve your skin’s color while providing other health benefits.
  • ·      Spinach, broccoli and kale —These dark, leafy greens should definitely be a staple in your diet, as they can help your skin to glow with health.
  • ·      Olive Oil —Although olive oil doesn’t contain any carotenoids, but as it is packed with antioxidants and omega-3’s, it will give your skin a moisture boost vital for a healthy glow.

Final Words Of Advice — To Attain Healthy Skin, Develop A Healthy Lifestyle.
Healthy color aside, it is always wise to eat healthy portions of fresh fruits and vegetables in one’s daily diet, as most of these fruits and vegetables contain powerful antioxidants, which have a protective effect against internal and external aging.

Now the final choice is your – munch on “carotenoid-rich" foods, lay out in the sun or spray-on a sunless self-tanner?

Let’s Unblock Your Sunblock Quotient

How To Use Sunscreen
Thanks to skin cancer and health faculties guided media campaigns we all have received the message loud and clear that the sun is bad for you. Sure, it facilitates life on earth, but it also wreaks hyperpigmentation-havoc on your skin among other serious effects like skin cancer and damages your collagen and elastin bundles leading to premature wrinkles and aging. And if the sun is the enemy in this little metaphor, consider sunscreen to be the soldier that shields you and battles on your behalf against harmful UV rays.

While SPF is a hero for sure, it can only really protect you from the aforementioned skin horrors if you are using it correctly. And most skin experts agree, people despite their best intentions continue to make big mistakes when it comes to correctly using and applying sunscreen. Because the efficacy of sunscreens is directly related to how they are used, this is a big deal.

So what are the common blunders? So glad you asked.

Not Reapplying
It's great you remember to put sunscreen on in the morning, however by the time the sun goes down at night, your one application in the morning has totally worn off. If you are in the sun, you need to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours.

Ignoring UVA Protection = More Damage To Skin
Research has shown that while UVA rays don't cause sunburn, they penetrate deeply into skin and cause wrinkles. US Environmental Protection Agency estimates that up to 90% of skin changes associated with aging are really caused by a lifetime's exposure to UVA rays. There is no rating to tell you how good a sunscreen is at blocking UVA rays. So when it comes to UVA protection, you need to pay attention to the ingredients. Look for a sunscreen that contains at least one of the following: ecamsule, avobenzone, oxybenzone, titanium dioxide, sulisobenzone, or zinc oxide.  Any of those should do the trick.

Grasping The UVB Protection SPF Conundrum – 15 or higher?
The SPF factor rates how effective the sunscreen is in preventing sunburn caused by UVB rays. If you'd normally burn in 10 minutes, SPF 15 multiplies that by a factor of 15, meaning you could go 150 minutes before burning. For the vast majority of people, SPF 15 is fine. Understand the high SPF myth and keep in mind that the higher the SPF, the smaller the increased benefit. Contrary to what you might think, SPF 30 isn't twice as strong as SPF 15. While SPF 15 filters out 93% of UVB, SPF 30 filters out 97%, only a slight improvement.

SPF rating and UVB protection

Layering SPFs
Using two products, say your moisturizer and foundation with sunblock in them, is fine, but thinking their SPF factors combine to be one larger, more powerful SPF is not. Women think that the SPF 15 in their makeup plus their SPF40 in their sunscreen equals a 55, which is just not true. In reality, the most you are getting is the highest level you apply, and that's it.

Relying On SPF In Makeup
Sunblock in makeup is usually enough to prevent a burn when used properly, but it isn't enough to prevent all the harmful rays that age the skin and cause skin cancer. Makeup products with SPF are usually between SPF 5 and 15, which is not appropriate for direct sun exposure. I always encourage everyone to wear a minimum of SPF 15 when exposed to the sun, and the higher the better! Makeup is also not applied everywhere that sunscreen should be, and we often miss the neck, ears and hairline.

Finding The Appropriate Sunscreen
The ideal sunscreen should be efficacious, aesthetically elegant, photo-stable, long lasting & preferably Oxybenzone free. These qualities would improve wearing compliance and prevent premature photo-aging. Look for broad-spectrum sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection with SPF 15. If you have a family history of skin cancer, very fair or sensitive skin, go for SPF 30 or higher. Ingredients with broad-spectrum protection include benzophenones (oxybenzone), cinnamates (octylmethyl cinnamate and cinoxate), sulisobenzone, salicylates, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, avobenzone (Parsol 1789) and ecamsule (Mexoryl SX).

How much sunscreen should be applied

Be good to yourself and stay sun safe.

Thigh Dimples — Embrace The Simple Truth

Cellulite
Fact — Curvy or skinny all girls have cellulite, and if anyone says other wise —by the powers vested in you by me — call their bluff. If you visit a pharmacy or cosmetic store there are shelves and shelves of space dedicated to creams and lotions claiming to cure cellulite — (encore) by the powers vested in you by me — call their bluff. Ladies modern medicine thus far has failed us and lamentably there is no permanent fix even on the horizon as of yet. Yes, there are multiple laser, ultrasound and radiofrequency technologies available in the market that temporarily help reduce the hallmarks lumps and bumps of cellulite, but they all fall short in giving lasting results. Research has shown us clearly that there are multiple causes working against our thighs leading to the appearance of cottage cheese skin. A lasting remedy would have to address the interplay between skin, fat, connective tissue and underlying muscle and currently there is none.

Peau D’ Orange Under The Microscope — Cellulite is caused when little bits of fatty tissue push through the fibrous connective-tissue lattice that is connecting our skin to the underlying tissues. The fatty tissue itself is soft, and the fibrous connective tissue is tough. Now imagine the soft fat popping through the open spaces between the tough strands of fibrous tissue. No matter the body shape, even little bits of fat can push their way through. Long story short: Fatty tissue (aka cellulite) can show up on all shapes and sizes, even super model thin frames.

Cellulite

If lotions, potions, pills and technology have failed us, it doesn’t mean we are going to lay down arms and embrace the horrific dimples of cottage cheese. Be pro active and keep your daily prevention shields up and keep the wobbly beast at an arms length.

Cellulite #DrShaziaAli

Skip Your Tele Date With Salsa & Chips — Avoiding salty foods and other water retention traps can help keep the appearance of cellulite at bay. People who retain fluids have cellulite worse than those who don’t. Introduce your self to low-sodium soy sauce!

Smooth Skin Is Exfoliated Skin — Seek out a gentle exfoliator, harsh exfoliators can chafe the skin making skin dimpling worse over time. You can try a home made sugar scrub because it dissolves as you use it. For this reason, it’s hard to over-exfoliate with a well-made sugar scrub. I absolutely trust the new soft, and body-friendly Braun Silkepil SkinSpa sonic brush exfoliating system for more efficient results.

Happy Skin Is Hydrated Skin — When you’re in the bath or shower, make good use of your awesome new Braun exfoliator or a body polish. After toweling off, apply a rich moisturizer while the skin is still damp. Keep in mind that fancy schmancy moisturizers may not be more effective. These days a lot of high-tech engineering goes into the development of moisturizers. While moisturizing ingredients such as shea butter are good to look for, it’s not easy to identify the good or bad moisturizers by merely looking at the ingredients alone. I’d recommend looking for a name you trust and price point you feel comfortable using every day. Ultimately, it is the daily use of a moisturizer that makes it effective. My personal favorite is AminoGenesis Cocoon that leaves my skin with a smooth and lasting finish everyday.

Cellulite Creams The Silky Truth — I don't want to be the one to break it to you, but there is no over-the-counter cream that is going to "cure" your cellulite. I really don't understand how smart, responsible people can think a cream or topical product can make a difference to cellulite. But if you are keen on feeding your frenzy to tame your dimpled thighs look for products, which contains restorative antioxidants like green tea or caffeine. It’s just conjecture on my part, but it may be that caffeine constricts the tiny vessels in the skin leading to slight local ‘dehydration’ in the skin that can prevent water retention, relieving pressure in the fat pockets under the skin and indirectly preventing fat from poking through and making cellulite look better temporarily.

Final Note To Self: Love Your Body — Learning to love your body as is, especially when it comes to something that's both natural and abundant in the female population, will save you a lot of anxiety and agony in the grand scheme of things. Live your life — cellulite be damned!

Have You Got What It Takes To Flaunt A Dude-Bun?

Male Pattern Androgenetic Alopecia #DrShaziaAli
David Beckham, Jake Gyllenhaal, Orlando Bloom and Jared Leto have all played iconic roles in putting the dude-bun back on the cool-hunk look trend. The style is not only a quick and practical solution for the longer-haired set, it has also become a coveted and buzzed about panache on the red carpet; thank you Leto.

One coal and ice requirement to sport this desiderate look is a full set of hair with cascading locks. Male pattern androgenetic alopecia can throw a real monkey wrench into the budding hair-bun plans dreamt by any beau suffering from this hormonal hair tribulation. Follicularly challenged folks with thinned out crowns, I want your attention specifically today. We can part ways here and leave the cool hair-do out of our discussion and focus on what’s going on under the hormone ravaged pates of the hair challenged and what latest options modern medicine is promising to make dude-buns a free choice.

Bald Truth:
Many men who experience hair loss may feel emasculated by the thinning, but truth be told they are too sexy for their own hair. The pathogenesis behind androgenic alopecia is in fact, an overproduction of testosterone converters and an underproduction of estrogen converters.

Skin cells, brain cells, and yes hair, all have natural growth cycles. They grow, die and are frequently replaced by newer models. But in the case of the 80% of men who develop male pattern baldness at some point in their lives, the hair follicles just stop re-growing.

Androgenic alopecia does not cause the whole scalp full of hair to fall out at once, but rather causes hair follicles to shrink to near microscopic size after each shedding cycle. This happens under the influence of male hormone (testosterone) leading to the progressive shortening of the anagen phase, causing each hair follicle to become thinner and smaller during each cycle until no re-growth.
Women can also experience androgen alopecia; however, their thinning is typically well distributed throughout the scalp and they very rarely reach complete baldness.

Reversing Your Loss:
Currently the approved treatments of male pattern baldness are a lotion containing Minoxidil and a pill containing Finasteride. PRP, low level lasers and FU hair grafting are some of the other choices listed on get-your-hair-back treatment menu. But glabrous tellurians are still yearning for something more, a game changer perhaps to halt their hair affliction in its tracks and perhaps a miraculous way to repopulate a bald mane.

Hair Raising Research:
Male Pattern Androgenetic Alopecia #DrShaziaAli

Research done at the University of Pennsylvania by Dr. Luis Garza, currently assistant professor of dermatology at Johns Hopkins, showed that during the natural cycle of hair growth, levels of a molecule called Prostaglandin D2 (PGD2) increase around a hair follicle just before it gives up the ghost. This suggests that PGD2 naturally inhibits hair growth.

When those scientists turned their sights on bald men’s noggins, they found men with male pattern baldness had higher levels of PGD2 than their hirsute brethren and realized that the molecule, when told by bum genetics to overproduce, was most likely the cause of men’s receding hairlines.

To test their theory, the scientists isolated hair follicles from face and brow-lift tissue obtained from plastic surgeons and hit them with PGD2. The more PGD2 the follicles received, the balder the skin got. Luckily, these scientists were successful in identifing a receptor that triggers the molecule’s destructive habits. Now all the scientists would have to do is use this receptor to create a treatment that will allow men in the early stages of baldness to hold on to their proud manes.

A handful of treatments focusing on the receptor are already in clinical trials, like the drug Ramatroban. PGD2, seems to be a very busy nuisance in general, not only is it the enemy of hair, it causes the bronchial contractions experienced by asthmatics too. So chemists are now at work trying to figure out a way to turn oral and inhalable drugs into topical ones.

So, how long before bald men see some relief? Unfortunately, there’s no timetable. They have to figure out dosage and safety before clinical trials even begin — and those could take years.

Conjuring Mullets From the Backs of Mutant Mice:
Male Pattern Androgenetic Alopecia #DrShaziaAli

Does anyone remember the episode of South Park from 2008 called "Eek, a Penis!" in which Mrs. Garrison, having had her gender reassigned, decides she doesn't want to be a woman after all, so a new penis is grown for her on the back of a mouse. Most people thought the whole premise of that episode was something the show's writers dreamt up. Apparently, they were wrong. It seems scientists really are growing human parts on the backs of mice. And in this case at hand, we have a mullet grown from human skin implanted on the back of the mice.

A joint team of scientists, from the University of Durham in the U.K and Columbia University Medical Center in New York City, took on the quest of growing new hair from scratch. Using cells from the base of a hair follicle, the scientists were able to create new hair follicles in human skin, essentially curing baldness. Hopefully in few years time we will be looking at this mullet on the mouse back as one small step for man, but one giant leap for the balding mankind. The success story was published in the September 2013 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

With the success of this trials hope for a cure for baldness has been established, but it is still too soon for men to be tossing out their Rogaine, or planning Leto inspired hair-bun parties. On that note let’s just sit back and imagine how some of our fav celebs would look in their top-buns ;)

Looking For Safe Skin Lighteners? – Look No Further

Skin Bleaching creams and products
Do you know what is the most commonly discussed skin condition in my Jeddah based dermatology practice? — Skin Pigmentation. Doctor why is my skin marred with dark patches and spots? Why my skin tone is not clear? Am I suffering from melasma? Do I have pigmented skin type? What is pigmented skin type? And this list of complexion concerns doesn’t end with the face only they creep downwards involving different areas of body too. Pigmentation related skin concerns like: melasma, uneven skin tone, dark elbows and knees are hot concerns among Middle Eastern and Asian skin. Horror tales speaking about misuse and abuse of legit and non-legit bleaching and skin whitening agents are too familiar across these regions, yet more chapters are continuously added to this book of cautionary tales.

I thought it’s be nice to get you acquainted with some of the newer and relatively safer ingredients, including some derived from plants, which are now being used in topical treatments for hyperpigmentation. Next time you are out shopping for a new skin blending and bleaching product look for these names in the ingredients list:

Soy
  • Derived from the soybean plant, it is one of the most commonly used skin-lightening ingredients in moisturizers and a combination of products and cosmeceuticals.
  • It works by inhibiting the transfer of melanosomes (small “packages” of melanin) into the top layer of the skin, which causes skin darkening.
  • Studies have shown its effectiveness as a skin lightening ingredient in cosmeceuticals and its ability to suppress additional pigment from coming to the surface of the skin.

Niacinamide
  • It is a form of vitamin B3 that acts like soy by inhibiting the transfer of melanosomes into the skin’s upper layer.
  • It is used in many cosmeceuticals for its skin lightening effects and its potential to prevent additional pigment from coming to the surface of the skin.

Ellagic Acid
  • It is a natural substance derived from strawberries, cherries, and pomegranates.
  • It works as an antioxidant and also inhibits an enzyme needed for melanin production.
  • Studies show it is more effective at skin lightening than kojic acid or arbutin, which are both discussed below.

Lignin Peroxide
  • It is an enzyme derived from a fungus that can break down melanin in the skin.
  • Lignin is found in wood pulp and when it breaks down, it can lighten the wood pulp. This is how wood pulp is whitened for use in paper and how lignin was discovered as a skin-lightening agent.
  • Currently it is available in an over-the-counter product range called Elure.
  • Studies have not been completed, but anecdotal reports have highlighted its skin-lightening properties.

In addition, studies have shown that these four ingredients pose little or no allergy risk, so they might be more tolerable to consumers who are allergic to other natural lightening agents. If an allergic reaction occurs, you should discontinue use and see a certified dermatologist for treatment.

The following three ingredients have also shown promise as skin lighteners, but they can cause an allergic reaction in some individuals:

Arbutin
  • A natural derivative of hydroquinone derived from plants, including bearberry, blueberry, and cranberry.
  • It is usually available in combination with other skin-lightening agents in over-the-counter cosmeceuticals.
  • Some cosmetic products available at high-end department stores contain 3% concentrations, which studies show can significantly lighten the skin.

Kojic Acid
  • It is an antioxidant derived from a fungus rather than a plant. It works by breaking down melanin in the skin and preventing its production in the skin.
  • Found in cosmecuticals in 1% to 4% concentrations either combined with other skin-lightening agents or by itself.
  • Clinical studies show improvement in skin lightening.

Licorice
  • There are a number of different licorice extracts derived from licorice root.
  • Liquirtin is available over the counter and has been shown to lighten skin.

DERMATOLOGIST RECOMMENDED EXPERT ADVICE:

Those affected by hyperpigmentation who would like to use a topical treatment to lighten their skin should consult a certified dermatologist who can help, separate fact from fiction in terms of product claims. It’s important to remember that even topical treatments backed by science do not work overnight because it takes time and consistent use to produce a noticeable improvement. You should also be cautious about ordering skin-lightening products via the Internet, because the country of origin for the active ingredients might be unknown, raising questions as to the purity or effectiveness of these ingredients, as well as the product’s overall quality.

Kicking Cottage Cheese Legs To The Curb

Frieda Pinto may have perfect derrièr and gams, but the rest of us mostly need a boost from time to time to brave a short-short dress or a skirt sans elastic support. Cellulite the archenemy of smooth stemmed legs showcased in a cute pair of shorts has dampened many a spirits across the globe, as it spares no race even skinny girls tremble and fall prey to its bumpy knobby pits. To beat cellulite you have to understand what’s going on under the skin and what remedies can actually alter and make a positive change.

What causes cellulite?

Having cellulite doesn't necessarily mean you are overweight. Even thin people can have the curse of the unsmooth-legs. If you are overweight, however, losing weight may reduce cellulite to some degree. Another gender inequality fact that we need to swallow with grace here is that: cellulite plagues women more than men. If other women in your family have cellulite, consider your self partially doomed coz there's a good chance you will too. Apart from gender and genetics other factors that influence how much cellulite you have and how visible it is include:
·      Poor diet
·      Fad dieting
·      Slow metabolism
·      Lack of physical activity
·      Hormone changes
·      Dehydration
·      Total body fat
·      Thickness and color of your skin

Anatomy Of The Cellulite

We are already familiar with the reality that cellulite is the commonest topographical alteration seen mostly in females. I’d even go as far as saying, “if you’ve estrogen you’re bound to get cellulite too”. That being said, looking at cellulite means you have the skin surface changes in the form of orange peel or mattress appearance plus you also have deeper under the surface changes in the fat-cells and connective tissue fibers linking the skin to the muscles. Disturbances in blood and lymphatic microcirculation cause fibro-sclerosis (loss of elasticity) of the connective tissue resulting in non-inflammatory, degenerative phenomenon that provokes alterations to the hypodermis producing irregular undulations on the skin overlying the affected areas. Changes in the size of the fat cells in the under skin connective tissue pockets leads to worsening in cellulite over time.

Quick Fix - Assume Camouflage Mode On
Cellulite tends to be less noticeable on darker skin. If you have light skin and plan to be out in a bathing suit or short shorts, applying a self-tanner may make the bumps and dimples on your thighs less noticeable.

Gurl Brush That Body
Brushes made of prickly cactus bristles can help tame cellulite to some degree by sloughing off dead skin, stimulating skin collagen bundles supporting the skin as well as by improving lymphatic and blood circulation. Dry Buff your skin from feet upwards before shower, it’d hurt guaranteed but it will smooth out the cellulite riddle skin too – worth trying!

Waging A Roller Attack
No pain no gain gurls – Treating cellulite means waging war on the wobbly bits with full conviction. There are professional devises with rolling and kneading action as well as home use gadgets. They pinch, knead, and stimulate leaving behind red track marks but they do help in improving the surface contours to some degree. LPG is a popular endermologie device most commonly used in spas and clinics.

Smooth On A Blubber Tamer
Creams that claim to help cellulite contain caffeine, asiatic centella, ginko biloba, melillotus offincinalis extract, ruscus aculeatus, aminophylline, and vitamin A, the names are more than a mouthfuls but these agents work precisely. Coupled with massage, creams and mesotherapy incorporating these agents can reduce the appearance of lumps and bumps, but don’t expect any miracles in short term. Only time and patience along with healthy lifestyle can bring in the satisfactory rewards.

Technologies To The Rescue
Fat blasting, skin renewing and micro-circulation altering technologies are the only true and tested, body streamlining options when it comes to kicking cellulite to the curb. Body shaping technologies which give irrefutable results include lasers, radiofrequency, and ultrasound treatments coupled with vacuum massage. Optimal results are generated, by combining these technologies with Mesotherapy (fat busting medicine injections). Multiple treatment sessions are generally required to see quantifiable results and maintaining these results is only possible by adopting a healthy lifestyle. Laser-lipo is another bold treatment option, which can blast fat and renew and tighten the connective tissue underlying the skin, giving nice smooth results within a short period of time.

Real Skinny On Results
Although such remedies hold promise for keeping the skin look smooth and lump-free, but for staying cellulite free on long term, the best option exercise, and, if needed, weight loss. Experts agree that the most effective exercise routine for cellulite is one that incorporates aerobic exercise and strength training along with a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and fiber.
